We are currently looking for a Business Software Engineer to join Thales in Piscataway, NJ. The main focus of the Business Software Engineer is support of existing tools / systems and development of new digital initiatives. The Business Software Engineer is an essential part of the Operations team to maintain current reporting system and different critical web-based decision making tools.

In addition, this role will have the responsibility to overhaul the legacy reporting platform using up to date and robust technologies. It will continue the effort to develop and deploy new Digital innovations for both local and worldwide projects. The role requires to have strong technical knowledge, Project Management experience, and excellent ability to interact with the team.

Key Responsibilities:

Support and improve current tools & systems

  • Support Web and client-server environments including JavaScript, HTML, XML and databases
  • Develop and improve SQL databases necessary to support current systems
  • Maintain existing JavaScript, HTML and PHP as per business needs
  • Convert existing Visual Basic script into robust and more agile solutions
  • Train users as required

Develop Digital initiatives

  • Based on local business requirements design and develop complete digital solutions
  • Work as part of a team in designing, developing, testing and deploying of Worldwide digital projects
  • Develop data architecture and reporting structures in order to coordinate with unified databases current projects
  • Perform data post-processing to ensure efficiency database using state of the art ETL services
  • Document development and train users as required

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with minimum 5+ years of experience, 2+ years of which must include experience in business operations or systems development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  •  Two years of experience on JavaScript, HTML, PHP development
  • 2+ years of experience in SQL databases
  • Visual Basic experience
  • Export Transform Load (ETL) experience (Knime, Alteryx...)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related with 4+ years of experience
  • Two years of experience working with SAP database
  • Excellent oral, written, communication, analytical and planning skills.
  • Ability to understand Electronic Data Interface (EDI) networks
  • Knowledge of aviation industry and terminology a plus.
