We are currently looking for a Test Engineer to join Thales in Overland Park, KS. The Test Engineer will be working with our team to implement, test and deliver a new FAA Surveillance Radar.  The role will include the planning, setup and execution of the test program for the Radar equipment as well as creation, review and editing of Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL) deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working on all phases of the test program including planning, test approach/success criteria development, test procedure development, test dry-runs, test conduct and test report development 
  • Formulate and define effective test approaches to support activities, including documentation of system procedures, provide technical engineering expertise for resolution of operational issues, troubleshoot and investigate system issues, report issues to the broader team, and maintain system documentation.
  • Conduct formal in plant and on site tests in front of FAA and other witnesses
  • Generation of test documentation and procedures such as test set design review packages (gate review), test procedures, work instructions, and test reports.
  • Develop and execute test tools qualification
  • Perform analysis on data collected at various stages of test
  • Up to 10% Domestic and International travel may be required

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or a related field or a combination of education and directly related experience (Associates degree and Three (3) years of experience or 5 years of directly related experience with a HS diploma)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant system or test engineering experience on Air Traffic control systems.
  • Prior experience in FAA and/or DoD contracts

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior test experience on FAA surveillance systems and programs strongly preferred
  • Prior experience working with surveillance data structures such as ASTERIX.
  • Prior surveillance experience with multiple surveillance types such as Primary Radar, Secondary Radar, ADS-B, and Multilateration
  • Understanding of air traffic management systems and operations
