About Your Role

Thales has been supporting the Australian Defence Force with Small Arms for over 100 years and is now working to deliver them the Next Generation of Close Combat Family of Weapons integrated with other supporting soldier systems. We have built up a team passionate about developing products to equip soldiers with transformational capabilities for the challenges of the modern battlefield and we’re now looking for like-minded, engineers and technical staff to join us in this important task. The Chief of Army summarised this last year when he recognised this by confirming that what we do is “ fundamental to assuring Army’s competitive capability edge into the future”. 

Our Integrated Weapons and Sensor business is currently seeking an Engineering Services and Governance Manager to be based at our Lithgow site. This role will focus on developing, implementing and maintaining the engineering management system, the solution safety system and a configuration management framework. This is a great opportunity for an experienced technical leader for 2021 to join us in this innovative senior engineering role.

Responsibilities will include:

  • In addition to developing and implementing the above systems which is a major focus of the role, the manager will also develop the skills and capabilities to support the systems and ensure compliance with them
  • Ensure our engineering tools and processes are appropriate to support current/future opportunities
  • Lead a team of technical and engineering people and ensure there are enough resources for bids, manufacturing services operations as well as the industrialisation of products and services

How About You?

  • Degree in Engineering (eg industrial, mechanical or similar) with eligibility for engineering registration in NSW and CPEng
  • Recent solid experience with engineering governance and system safety
  • Experience in a precision machining manufacturing industry
  • Experience leading a multi-discipline team of technical and engineering personnel

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.

Prior to offer you’ll complete a pre-employment police and medical.

We will support the successful candidate with relocation to Lithgow! Preferred location is our Lithgow site but we are open to the role being based at one of our Sydney offices with regular travel to Lithgow.
