Systems Engineering Manager

Primary Purpose of the Role:
Provide Systems Engineering delivery leadership, ISR product design and architectural expertise and customer relationship management within the ISR domain. This will involve working closely with the PM/EM to capture customer requirements, define the architectural/design options and deliver the selected option within time, budget and schedule.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Capture of customer requirements and the flow down into compliant subsystem specifications
- Deliver technical documents and generate cost estimates for future work
- Propose and develop architectual options and conduct system / subsystem trade-offs
- Lead system design, test and flight trial activites
- Ensure the necessary clearances are in place (e.g. security, safety, export, ITAR and spectrum)
- Agree Interface Exchange Requirements and acceptance criteria with the customer
- Manage the progressive sign off of Requirements through the project lifecycle
- Critically review inputs from the different teams (systems, software, mechanical/Electrical)
- Produce system test and flight trial definitions and procedures
- Support to reviews at all levels of the design, development and testing of the function;
- Provide Technical Leadership
- Liaise with customers and subcontractors on technical issues
- Mentoring team members
Skills, experience and Qualifications needed:
- Extensive multidisciplinary Engineering expertise, with specific knowledge of C4ISR systems.
- Ability to develop innovative and low risk practical engineering strategies to manage a complex project through its lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge and proven application of Engineering Project Delivery and processes across the full project lifecycle.
- Technical leadership – with a proven ability to build and sustain good working relationships with staff, peers and managers, customers and stakeholders.
- Strong appreciation of Safety and Safety Assurance within the Engineering discipline and Domain and working knowledge of Airworthiness regulations.
- Familiarity with Project management and delivery processes and practices, commercial acumen and a robust approach to budget and schedule control.
